@Work Member Newsletter January 2014

Heather’s Corner –It has been a busy few weeks but I’m loving it! I am so excited to have been selected as “your” executive director and I am looking forward to working with all of you.

In order to get to know each other better, the chamber will be hosting a “Coffee Talk” on Wednesday, February 5th (@5:30pm) at Maple Hall. More information is to come but this is a great opportunity to share ideas and network among members.

A little about me: I am a life long Western Washington resident and have lived in the Warm Beach area of Stanwood for the past 11 years. I have spent most of my career focusing on event marketing & tourism marketing – I love planning all types of events!

I am married and have 2 children  – Aidan & Lily, and most of my free time is spent supporting them; I’m not only a soccer mom but a baseball mom too.

If you haven’t noticed already I love my Seahawks and Mariners; some of my other passions are traveling, playing golf, cooking and baking.

Cheers to a prosperous New Year,

Heather

What You Need to Know This Month

March/April Event Card Deadline – February 7th!

If you have events coming up in March & April and you’d like them listed on the event card, the deadline to have your events inputted on to the Chamber’s online calendar via ChamberMaster is February 10th.

The January/February cards are out and are being distributed.

Flower Baskets

Part of what draws visitors to our community during the spring and summer months is the beauty of the flowers that are grown locally.

Unfortunately the tradition of the custom made flower baskets lining the streets of La Conner is in jeopardy this year due to budget cuts. The chamber has provided 52 baskets plus the cost of daily watering the past few years but the chamber’s budget has had to be modified after the reduction in hotel/motel tax funding for 2014, therefore we are not able to supply the baskets.

We are asking that businesses, residents and community supporters sponsor a basket this year. The cost would be $100.00 per basket and your name would be recognized in print. The chamber will maintain and water these baskets throughout the season.

Please contact Heather Carter if you would like to sponsor a basket, deadline is February 7th.
