Why We Love Skagit Team – May’s Featured Business

Meet the Why We Love Skagit Team with a homebase in La Conner. George Roth, Managing Broker, sums up their approach: “After helping people with home sales in Skagit Valley for the past several years, it occurred to us that we should really be telling the story of Skagit Valley – not so much the history, but about the lifestyle, the culture and the people. We enjoy our many friends here, the culture, and the sense of pride in where we live. We love that there are local events and festivals going on year-round, or that we’ll run into friends and neighbors hanging out at a restaurant in La Conner.  Skagit Valley is filled with such beauty.”

RICH MATHESON – Showing Agent

Rich is a native of the northwest, growing up in Anacortes in the 70s and 80s. A love of the area’s natural beauty led to a passion for photography and art that he pursued as an Art major at the University of Washington in Seattle. That inspired a yearning to see more of what our world had to offer and Rich continued his education and became a commercial airline pilot.

The lure of the Skagit Valley finally brought Rich back a few years ago when he purchased land near La Conner and built his home there. You will often find him out with his camera, exploring Skagit Valley fields with the eagles and snow geese, beachcombing for agates, or hiking and skiing in the Cascade Mountains.

NANCY CROWELL – Photographer

My love of photography started with my grandmother, who always had her camera handy to capture spontaneous moments such as the one above. Yes, that’s me, relishing a warm summer breeze. I still feel that way – every time I go out to shoot photos. It was Nana who taught me to appreciate the natural world, and to see the beauty in everyday things.
I have a background in cinematography as well as still photography, but I learned photography using film. Despite that analog background, I have to admit, I really love the accessibility of digital imagery. I have sold my images for commercial purposes as well as private collections. I have won awards and had successful shows, but nothing tops capturing a moment in time.
I live in a beautiful valley where I am inspired every day by the natural surroundings, the scenic farm lands and the bountiful flora.
