April in La Conner: Tulips & Treasures!
Guest Post by Stephanie Banaszak, Owner of Erth
April is here, and that means it’s time for the breathtaking agricultural tulip bloom around La Conner! Beyond the acres and acres of SkAGit Valley’s agricultural crops lies our tiny waterside town of La Conner. Its abundant resources, artistry, commerce, and community is admired by tens of thousands of visitors from across the nation and beyond borders for its simple lifestyle.
Long before La Conner became a settlement and trading post in the 1860s, the land was home to the Swinomish Tribal Nation, part of the Coast Salish people, who have lived in the region for thousands of years. The Swinomish Reservation, located just across the channel, is active in preserving indigenous traditions, culture, and is a master of stewardship of the land and waterways.
La Conner’s waterfront town has evolved from those historical spaces to today’s off-the-commercial-grid destination – no Starbucks or movie theatres here! Did you know that Erth has a full commitment to the environment? All of our products have an eco-ethos. Whether it is organic, upcycled, or intentionally supports woman-owned businesses, this pretty boutique has a conscience! And, what’s more is that Erth has an exclusive agreement with the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival to be the only vendor carrying official Tulip Festival gear!
Now, some exciting news for treasure hunters and eco-conscious shoppers! We are thrilled to introduce a new section of Thrift, featuring hand-selected secondhand and vintage finds based on E-Bay trends. Shopping secondhand not only helps reduce waste, but also supports the local community (most is resourced by locals) making it a win-win for everyone!
