Picture Yourself in La Conner this Summer!
Looking for a fun family getaway this summer? Look no further than La Conner, Washington located in the beautiful Skagit Valley. La Conner is a tiny waterfront town with no street lights, no speed limits over 25 mph, and lots of sights and things to do within walking distance from your hotel or B&B!
New this summer, Island Adventure’s “Island Explorer 4” is moving to our beautiful waterfront community and offering an Evening Deception Pass Tour (2.5 hour wildlife tour under Deception Pass) and a 8 hour full-day guaranteed whale watch tour with a stop for lunch on an island.
The La Conner tour is set up to have an exceptionally high sighting success rate. Unlike other tours with a stop for lunch, they do not have a rigid schedule on where they need to stop. This gives them the ultimate flexibility in guaranteeing whales! They typically see a variety of whales and wildlife including resident orca, transient orca, minke, gray, and humpback whales.
The San Juan Islands are not only recognized as a National Monument, but are regarded as one of the best places in the world to watch killer whales (orcas) in the wild. Resident killer whales frequent the waters and forage on fish – specifically salmon. Transient killer whales look very similar but have entirely different diets. Transients prefer marine mammals – seals, sea lions, and harbor porpoise. When you’re on scene with some transients, it can turn into National Geographic unplugged!
