Looking for something fun to do this year for Father’s Day? Consider a trip to La Conner – one of the Northwest’s favorite getaway locations!

If Dad is a boating enthusiast (whether he has a boat, or dreams of being a boat owner…), he will have a great time at the annual June 15 & 16 Father’s Day Boat Show and Swap Meet – hosted by La Conner Yacht Sales. Walking the docks and checking out boats for sale is great fun, and the swap meet (Saturday only) is always a favorite part of the show. This is a kid-friendly event and fun for the entire family. You’ll also find a hot dog stand, plus a raffle sponsored by the Skagit Bay Search and Rescue; proceeds will benefit their non-profit, all-volunteer rescue organization.

If Dad is an art enthusiast, we have a very special idea! June 15^th is our Museum of Northwest Art annual fundraiser, with more than 350 works of art presented by emerging through master artists. You’ll find additional details, ticket prices and the online auction calendar at the Museum of Northwest Art website.

Perhaps Dad is a wine enthusiast? Hellam’s Vineyard Wine Shop is a great option, and in June there are two special wine tastings, one scheduled for Father’s Day weekend. In addition to the special wine tastings, the wine shop is a terrific place to visit – thousands of bottles of wine from around the globe, a cold case with cheeses and imported meats, and a deck overlooking the Swinomish Channel that just begs for a couple glasses, a bottle of something tasty, and rock-star sunglasses.

If outdoor activities are more Dad’s style, La Conner is perfect to use as your base location for hiking, biking or sightseeing. If staying overnight in La Conner is part of your plan, you’ll have lots of lodging options to choose from. We do recommend making reservations ahead of time, because Father’s Day weekend is a busy one.
