I-5 Temporary Bridge Open – Skagit Valley is Open for Business!

La Conner, and the entire Skagit Valley, are breathing a sigh of relief this week. Traffic is back to normal (for the most part) and visitors will find easy access to points in-and-around, as well as north and south of, Skagit County.

It took only 3 weeks for the folks at the Washington Department of Transportation to build, then slide into place, a temporary bridge to replace the collapsed section of I-5 that spans the Skagit River.

It’s been a tough 3 weeks for many of us, but things are looking up and the weekend looks very promising for locals and visitors alike. The newly released Visit Northwest Washington commercial is a terrific reminder of all there is to do and see … use La Conner as your ‘home base’ and take advantage of all we have to offer!
