La Conner Daffodil Festival 2018

See The Beauty and Splendor of the Annual La Conner Daffodil Festival

Anyone who has ever experienced the amazing Skagit Valley Tulip Festival knows the incredible beauty that this flowering event makes possible in Skagit County. Another equally beautiful event is the La Conner Daffodil Festival that occurs each year. As March approaches, the La Conner Daffodil Festival is an event that simply should not be missed. Imagine sprawling fields of cheerful and happy daffodils with majestic Mount Baker staged in the background. This is what you can expect when you attend the popular and visually inspiring annual  La Conner Daffodil Festival.

A Wide Variety of Fun Events and Exhibits – The Grapes of Daff

With daffodils blooming and spring in the air, the La Conner Daffodil Festival is a great spring destination! Join us on Saturday March 10th at Maple hall for the “Grapes of Daff“!  This is your opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine and learn about wine & daffodils.  Featuring Bri Ewing from Washington State University talking about the state of wine in Washington compared to other regions, wineries in Skagit County, how wine is made and the steps for a sensory evaluation along with a guided wine evaluation.  Enter to win raffle prizes and enjoy a beautiful slide show of the La Conner Daffodil Festival photo contest entries.  Tickets are just $5.00 and include your glass of wine (must be 21+ to attend).

Stop by the La Conner Visitor Information Center for the daffodil bloom map when arriving or check back here for the bloom map. This map serves as a guide that helps to make it easy to identify which fields are currently in bloom.

Add To Your List of Must See Events

And let’s not forget that La Conner and the surrounding area is known for producing more tulip and daffodil bulbs than any other place in the United States. Hundreds of acres of beautiful flowers bloom each and every year across Skagit County. While tulips are the main attraction in April, the Daffodil Festival takes center stage in March. There are three primary varieties of daffodils that can be seen up close and focused with your camera. This includes the Flower Carpet, Standard Value and Dutch Master varieties. As a note, regarded worldwide as genuinely the most popular daffodil of all, the Dutch Master can be seen covering many of the larger primary daffodil fields in and around La Conner.

Only Require Rotation Once Every Three Years

Keep in mind that unlike most of the Skagit County tulips that are routinely topped as their bloom cycle comes to an end, the daffodils are left perfectly intact well into the later stages of their blooming cycle. As another note of trivia, while tulip fields are rotated each year, daffodil fields only require rotation once every three years. As such, the Skagit County daffodil fields that are in their third year this time around will be awash in a vibrant bright yellow color that is breathtaking and unmistakable.
