La Conner Artists Gallery Celebrating 9 Years Next Month!
La Conner Artists Gallery is an all-local artist cooperative with an eclectic mix of artistic mediums. They will be celebrating their nine-year anniversary on March 31st! You will find the gallery conveniently located in the Pier 7 building across the street from the La Conner Post Office and open daily from 11-4.
Nine Year Journey
In 2012, a visit from the non-profit Artspace planted the seed for a local artist gallery in La Conner. Artspace’s mission is to create, foster, and preserve affordable and sustainable space for artists, and arts organizations. Town officials, local residents, and property owners toured the possible properties for a cooperative gallery. Although a La Conner property wasn’t selected for the program, the idea stuck for Lisa Judy, she thought of the Pier 7 building as a great location. March 31st, 2012 became the anniversary date of the first day open for business in the Pier 7 building. “What a wild ride it has been, and I pray we always can offer a home for artists who need a family,” says Lisa Judy, Founder of That’s Knot All / La Conner Artists Gallery.
Artist Cooperative
What makes shopping at the La Conner Artists Gallery dynamic and always interesting is that artists take turns hosting the gallery. Each day you visit the gallery, you will have the opportunity to speak to a different artist. “The shop was built for the artists to retain the largest portion of their sales and know that the business is held only in trust and not for financial business gain,” says Lisa.
Eclectic Mix of Art
It can be challenging to keep a balance in a group of artistic minds, but the La Conner Artists Gallery exceeds many expectations! “The most fun is watching and talking to our guests who ponder through our shop until they eye-spy on something they have to buy!” says Lisa.
We found out about this place thanks to Lisa Judy, we have bought a little bit of everything but my favorite is the unique cards, they have many chickens and other animal prints as well. My mom loves it for the one of a kind jewelry. She had a custom stained glass art piece made for Mother’s day but we ended up leaving with that, jewelry, and cards. It was a fun day, and we got to meet the artist who made the custom piece too! There are not many places you can do that at!
Absolutely gorgeous local art. A must if you are coming through La Conner!
